The „Bräuer GmbH & Co. KG“ was founded in 1954 by Heinrich Bräuer under the name “Hilpoltsteiner Porzellanmanufaktur H. Bräuer KG” as producer of accessories for textile machines. The portfolio covered products such as thread guides, grooved drums and cam shafts, but also services such as polishing and grinding of technical ceramics.
In 1970 the „Hilpoltsteiner Porzellanmanufaktur H. Bräuer KG“ was transferred into the „Hilpoltsteiner Porzellanmanufaktur H. Bräuer GmbH“. Since 1990 the company has been led by the managing director Siegfried Bräuer. In 2017 the company was transferred into the „Bräuer GmbH & Co. KG„.
Today the company does not anymore produce accessories for textile machines, but sells polishing Know-How and develops and sells tailor-made polishing machines for specialized purposes, such as for the fully automated polishing of thread guides and thread eyes.
The „Institute of Thermal Process Engineering, Environmental and Natural Material Processing“ belongs to the Faculty of Mechanical-, Process- and Energy-Engineering of the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF). Since 2018 the institute has been led by Andreas Bräuer, who is professor for thermal process engineering. His competences and the competences of his team are the development of laser diagnostics, sensor systems and high pressure process equipment.
